4th graders investigated the properties of hydrophobic sand in their STEM class last week.
Hydrophobic sand is unlike normal sand because it does not get wet. It repels water instead of absorbing it.
Parents can purchase hydrophobic sand for their children in toy stores. We can find other versions of hydrophobic sand in industrial settings. Some industrial uses of hydrophobic sand include water proofing building foundations and for cleaning up small spills.
