In just a few days, we will be hosting Spring Conferences on campus. This day will have a different focus and format from the parent/teacher conferences that were held in the fall.
On Friday, April 26th, students in all grade levels will have the opportunity to run a student-led conference highlighting their abilities and achievements. Our teachers will serve as facilitators at the conference, supporting the students as they share their progress over the past school year. Your child will lead the session, providing insight into his/her work, areas of growth, and share proudest moments. This is a BIG deal to your child. He or she will prepare and practice for this conference, and will probably be excited (and maybe even a little nervous) to share his/her reflections and accomplishments. It’s very important that you attend.
The idea behind this format is for students to actively participate and critically reflect on their achievements. Studies have shown that this format increases self-advocacy, individual accountability, and student engagement.
